A new preprint “TRAP-based allelic translation efficiency imbalance analysis to identify genetic regulation of ribosome occupancy in specific cell types in vivo” by Yating and Tony is out on bioRxiv. The preprint asks how naturally occurring genetic variants contribute to post-transcriptional regulation, and focuses on examination of genetic regulation of ribosome occupancy resulting in translation efficiency imbalance. The UTR (untranslated region) annotation and miRNA (microRNA) analysis pipelines developed in their work could be used broadly to annotate potential deleterious genetic variants, and how these variants would influence mRNA and miRNA interaction. The work is a collaboration with Heather Lawson’s lab. Congrats Yating, Tony, as well as Celine, Juan, Heather and Joe!
