Talk Title: Glial modulation of sensory function and nerve repair
Abstract: The Cavalli lab investigates the molecular and cellular mechanisms regulating sensory functions in the peripheral nervous system, aiming to identify therapeutic targets for improving neuronal function in the context of nerve injury, aging as well as neurodevelopmental disorders. Our studies focus on Satellite Glial Cells, which surround sensory neuron soma in all peripheral ganglia, regulating the transmission of sensory information from the environment and internal organs to the brain. Using human tissue, we investigate how the findings made in the mouse model system translates to human physiology.
