Presents:  Chromatin-guided DNA methylation of CpG island promoters: insights from the early mouse embryo

Host: Dr. Ting Wang

In Person Only: Couch Building, Conference Rm. 6001B

Abstract: The vast majority of CpG island promoters remain hypomethylated throughout development. However, a subset of such promoters are subject to de novo methylation and transcriptional silencing in the early mouse embryo. I will present unpublished work aimed at identifying the epigenetic features that promote or protect these CpG-rich regions against DNA methylation at this developmental stage, and compare these features to those required for de novo DNA methylation of CpG island promoters in the germline.
