Talk title: Two Faces of FMR1: FMRP Deficiency and CGG Repeat-Mediated Neurodegeneration
Abstract: Fragile X–associated disorders arise from distinct consequences of CGG repeat expansion in the FMR1 gene, ranging from loss of FMRP in fragile X syndrome to repeat-mediated toxicity in FXTAS. This talk will highlight our recent work defining how FMRP regulates brain development and how expanded CGG repeats drive neurodegeneration, with the goal of identifying convergent mechanisms and therapeutic opportunities across the fragile X spectrum.
