presents, "What Makes Us Human? Development and Evolution of Prefrontal Circuits Underlying Cognitive Control" Hosted by:  Dr. Peter Jin In-person only:  Connor Auditorium (FLTC) Talk abstract:  In my presentation, I will describe some of our recent efforts to better understand the molecular and cellular basis of how neural circuits form within the developing cerebral cortex, the outside part of the mammalian brain that processes our senses, commands motor activity, and helps us perform higher-order cognitive functions like language. I will…

February 9 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

presents, "Inherited chromatin states shape transcription patterns in offspring and grandoffspring" Talk abstract:  The role that chromatin states serve in transmitting gene expression information across generations via sperm and oocytes is not well understood. We utilized a model in which C. elegans sperm and oocyte alleles were inherited in different states of the repressive mark H3K27me3. This resulted in the alleles achieving different transcriptional states within the nuclei of offspring. Using this model, we showed that sperm alleles inherited without H3K27me3 were sensitive to up-regulation in offspring…

Hosted by:  Simona Sarafinovska, Din Selmanovic, and Genetics trainees & postdocs In-person only:  Connor…
